CONNECTING’07 CONGRESS UPDATE

Only six months remain until CONNECTING’07 takes San Francisco’s Nob Hill by storm. Staff and volunteers have been hard at work planning session topics, confirming additional speakers and finalising logistics, all in the name of ensuring that the World Design Congress truly lives up to its billing as the design event of a lifetime.

New Plenary Speakers

Joining the illustrious ranks of those speakers leading sessions in the Masonic Center Auditorium are:
  • Ayse  Birsel of Birsel + Seck, who  designed the zoё Washlet, unofficially known as the world’s most comfortable  toilet seat, and the Resolve office system for Herman  Miller;
  • Cat Chow, whose engaging and thought-provoking work combines art, fashion and design;
  • Sam Lucente, vice president of design, Hewlett-Packard; and
  • Bibi Seck of Birsel + Seck, who was lead designer at Renault for 12 years, where he was responsible for bringing Scénic I and II, Twingo II and Traffic to market.

World Class Accommodations

Equally as important as registering for CONNECTING’07 is ensuring you have a place to stay when you arrive in San Francisco. The Congress hotel block is composed of three beautiful hotels atop scenic Nob Hill—The Fairmont San Francisco, which is the primary host hotel; The Stanford Court, host to the International Education Symposium; and The InterContinental Mark Hopkins—where special rates have been arranged at each. Be sure to make your hotel reservations quickly, as space cannot be guaranteed until the September reservation deadlines.

For room rates and hotel contact information, or to make your reservations online, visit the “Hotels” section under the blue “Travel” tab at www.connecting07.org.
