Call for entries April 24 - June 13

It is expected that better, more aesthetically-pleasing relationships will be built among people, the objects and things people produce, and surrounding environments.

The Good Design Awards originated in the "Good Design Selection System" created by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1957 and are Japan's sole comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system. Along with fairly evaluated results generated by industry through the power of design from the perspective of social and cultural values, another purpose of the awards is to promote the further advancement of industrial activities and contribution to society through the recognition of remarkable achievements.

The Good Design Awards are divided into four categories:

1. Product Design,
   
2. Architecture and Environment Design,
   
3. Communication Design, and
   
4. New Frontier Design.

* Categories other than Product Design Category accept domestic applications only at this moment. Applicants must be corporate bodies or individuals who can be socially responsible for the entry.

Schedule

• Start of Application: April 17
• Application Deadline: June 13
• Notification of results of First Screening: July 11
• Second Screening and Good Design Presentation (GDP)
• Stage: 24 August to 26 August
• Notification of results of second screening: September 12
• Awards announcement and notification of final results: October 1
• Selection of the Good Design Grand Prize and awards ceremony: October 25
