The Agency for the Promotion of Industrial Creation (APCI) will announce the recipients of the Observeur du design 08 Design Prize whose exhibition will be presented from October 10, 2007 to January 28, 2008 at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in Paris.  

The award ceremony and the exhibition opening ceremony will be on Wednesday October 10th 2007.

The Observeur du design is an annual international prize that aims to highlight and reward a selection of the best creations resulting from the collaboration between companies and designers.  

From the range of more than 200 creations submitted this year, an independent jury of professionals and experts awards "Stars" to the most outstanding products, which are exemplary in fulfilment of the following criteria:

- Innovation
- Improvement of user comfort
- Reduction of costs
- Formal and structural research
- Answering new needs
- Accessibility for all
- Respecting natural resources
- Quality and originality of the process
- Implementation of a global corporate strategy
- Investment in a new sector
- Modernization of a traditional know-how

This year, the jury is presided by Michelle Pappalardo, president of the ADEME (French environnement and energy public institution).

• INPI, ADEME and Oséo, Observeur partners since the start, will hand out special awards, highlighting a specific gain in their area of expertise : intellectual property, sustainable developpement, innovation and technology transfer.
• The Ile-de-France regional governing council will hand out a prize to a SME.
• A visitor’s award will be held at the exhibition, and handed out at the end of the exhibition.
  

The three-month run of the Observeur exhibition in Paris generates mass media coverage and fosters pedagogical programs for visitor groups.

An ambassador for french design and innovation abroad, the Observeur du design 08 Design Prize provides an opportunity to highlight French creativity and innovation in little-known fields. In past years, travelling exhibitions have been presented in Czech Republic, Korea, Hungary, Taiwan, Montreal, Serbia & Montenegro, South Africa and Sweden.

It will be presented this year during Istanbul’s Design Week, at the Moscow Polytechnical Museum, during the Budapest Design Week, as well as in Zagreb.

The Observeur is presented among the 17 international design awards every 2 years in Seoul in Korea at the World best design exchange, where it will once again show a significative presence.
